Founder Story
In 2005, I bravely ventured into the wild world of BSc. in Mathematics and Statistics at Kenyatta University. But hey, life is about balance, so I moonlighted as a wizard of kitchen cabinets and wallpaper extraordinaire for a Korean interior design company in Hurlingham. Graduated in ’09 and decided the banking life was calling, so I joined Co-operative Bank Card Centre in 2010. However, the universe had other plans, and on the day the Ocampo six were revealed (January 23, 2012), I gracefully exited, serving notice and making Valentine’s Day my official independence day.
I dived headfirst into the thrilling world of wallpaper hanging, a concept as alien as a cat riding a unicycle to many Kenyans at the time. But life has a way of throwing curveballs, and soon clients were asking if I could tint their windows. Now, I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I began outsourcing the installation to some tint installers in Nairobi West, but I quickly realized I had no control in that set up.
Determined not to be the tint guy with zero control, I decided to master the tinting craft. First step? Ordering seven car tinting DVDs from Express Window Films USA. Yes, an entire DVD set dedicated to the art of film installation – riveting, I know. But those DVDs were my ticket to enlightenment, answering questions and benchmarking my skills against the gods of tinting in the USA.
Before I could become a tinting ninja, I had to do the humble thing and become a ‘mtu wa mkono’ for tint installers in Nairobi West. Picture this: up at 5 am, arriving at Nairobi West by 6 am, and waiting patiently until the tint shops opened at 10 am. Survival mode engaged, going without food at times, and embracing the struggle for four months straight – all in the name of tinting mastery.
Fast forward 12 years, and I’m still pouring my soul into tinting. I’ve seen it all and hey, if you choose my company, not only will you get top-notch tinting, but you might also catch a glimpse of an ex-banker tinting maestro.
